I am currently being trained right now for SEF Mainframe, and included in it is to learn COBOL. We all know that it is one of the oldest programming languages so it is really a big challenge for me to learn it. I am just glad that because of this training, I learned to appreciate the use of flowcharts.
I was never a flowchart-first person because I wasn’t trained in school to do it so it feels good to learn a new thing in training. I feel extremely happy whenever I get to accomplish something because of using the flowchart first before typing it all on my workstation.
I commend my instructors. They are really good. They’ve been in the industry for how many years already.
They are already not-so-young anymore but I am impressed how they still know what they are doing. Well, they tend to forget little minor things while discussing, haha. But it’s unavoidable when you’re old.
There are seven major case studies for this training. I have managed to survive two case studies (with minor errors each, because I forgot to add a code for the line-counter and it prints continuously
haha) and I am currently working on the third one. I hope I can survive the coming case studies.
Let’s go, Luna!
